Originally was going to post this here in case it got taken down from MWO forums, which happened already xD.  So here's the original post:

Yes you read the subject title correctly, this is a MOD for MechWarrior Online.

Now, I am fully aware that this post may be deleted, and I may be banned.  But I felt a deep need to share this with the community and PGI, as I believe this has huge potential and I'd love to see PGI embrace the idea of mods in their game for MechWarrior Online (at least mods that do not give the player an advantage).

Now basically, this is a very silly sound mod, where I replaced all the weapon sound effects with a recording of my voice going "pew!" as the following video will show:

I would like to point out that this in no way gives the player any sort of advantage in game, and if anything it becomes a disadvantage for the player, due to every weapon sound being the same "pew" sound and not being able to distinguish different weapons (becomes hard to use gauss as well lol), and side effects may also include your sides hurting from too much laughter...not much I can do about that unfortunately.

It's a simple modification of the Sounds.dat file, where I extracted the .pak and the weapons database .fsb inside, and repackaged it with my modified sounds, replacing each weapon sound.  It works flawlessly as the video shows, and the mod would go into MechWarrior Online/Game folder, replacing the original Sounds.dat file that is there.  Here is the mod itself, and as you'll see, Sounds.dat is the only modified file.

(EDIT:  Check bottom of this post for new download)

I believe this sort of thing opens up some new possibilities, including the idea to do a full acapella mod I have planned already, which a lot of people so far, since showing them my pew mod, have asked me to do.  So machine guns and Clan UAC's will become "DAKKA DAKKA" and pulse lasers "WUBWUBWUB" and so on.  More than weapon sounds, I plan to do sounds for everything else as well, such as footsteps becoming "stompstomp" and such.  But more than silly acapella mods, we can do things such as replacing the current bitching betty voice with the one from MechWarrior 2, or even replacing weapon and mech sound fx with the MechWarrior 2 sound fx, as a few people already suggested to me, so there are some really cool possibilites here.

TheB33f has even agreed he'd love to do the acapella versions for every warhorn, and the Beer Warriors want to contribute as well.  I will admit this did take a bit of work, renaming every file to replace every individual sound effect, rendering into .fsb in the correct format, re-packaging into the Sounds.dat.  So this would be a big project to undertake, one that I'd personally love to do.  I would also have to keep this updated, as when a new patch comes out that adds new sound effects, the Sounds.dat will be overwritten by the patcher in order to install the new sounds, which then I will be able to inject my "pew" mod into again for that patch, so I understand I'll have to keep this updated for following patches from PGI.

So yeah, there it is.  The first (I think the first anyway) mod for MechWarrior Online, hopefully with PGI's support.  I've already received a ton of support from the community who has seen and knows about this before this post was made, so I hope you see the potential PGI for something silly and fun and harmless =)

I'll respect their decision whatever it may be.

It did get deleted, though I'm not banned....yet  xD.  No word from PGI though as to why.  Guess we'll find out later!

There were tons of replies from people who supported the idea and loved it, including TheB33f.  I don't have screenshots unfortunately of the original thread but I have a screenshot from PGI-Tina chatting during last night's stream:
